Gilbey Cooles, Ironmongers
I was very interested to see your notes on 226 Bath Road. Gilbey Coole was my grandfather and I have an old photograph of the ironmongers shop which I would be delighted to email to you. I remember talk of Mr Bridges. Gilbey Coole's father, Edwin Coole, was a wine and spirit merchant at 318 Lower High Street, Cheltenham. When he died, it ultimately went to Gilbey, who sold it to Guy Martin and it became Martin's before being demolished sometime later. Val Collinson
