The Brown Jug

"According to my Grandfather, Harry Backinsell (1908-2005), the Brown Jug public house was known as such because workers from a nearby laundry, at which his relations (possibly his mother) worked, used to take a large brown jug there at lunch time and they'd fill it for the workers and the name stuck. I've not been able to verify this and my Grandad made many interesting claims, however this always seemed feasible."
